Tying CommuniTIES through Mentorship
Mentorship plays a vital role in providing guidance, support, and positive role models for young Black men. The program prioritizes mentorship opportunities with individuals who understand their experiences and offers culturally relevant advice, encouragement, and networking opportunities.
Year 1
Pair TTF Scholars with mentors who serve as positive role models and provide guidance and support in navigating challenges and setting goals.
Organize mentor-led activities and outings to build trust, rapport, and a sense of belonging within mentor-mentee relationships.
Year 2
Foster deeper connections between mentors and TTF Scholars through regular check-ins, goal-setting sessions, and reflective conversations.
Encourage TTF Scholars to take ownership of their mentorship experiences by setting personal goals and seeking guidance from their mentors to achieve them.
Year 3
Foster TTF Scholars' leadership and mentorship skills by encouraging them to serve as peer mentors or role models for younger mentees in the program.
Provide opportunities for TTF Scholars to reflect on their mentoring experiences and share insights and lessons learned with their peers and mentors.
