Tying CommuniTIES through Service
Service encourages a spirit of service and community engagement is important for young Black men to develop leadership skills, empathy, and a sense of belonging. The program should offer opportunities for volunteerism, community projects, and initiatives that address social issues affecting their communities, empowering TTF Scholars to become agents of positive change.
Year 1
Introduce TTF Scholars to the concept of community service through age-appropriate projects such as neighborhood clean-ups, food drives, and creating care packages for local shelters.
Partner with local organizations and charities to provide hands-on opportunities for TTF Scholars to give back to Chicagoland communities.
Year 2
Encourage TTF Scholars to take on leadership roles in planning and executing community service projects, empowering them to make a meaningful impact in their neighborhoods.
Facilitate discussions on social issues and civic engagement to inspire TTF Scholars to become active participants in addressing community challenges.
Year 3
Empower TTF Scholars to take on leadership roles in planning and executing larger-scale community service initiatives, such as awareness campaigns, fundraising events, and service-learning projects.
Recognize TTF Scholars' achievements and contributions to their communities through awards, certificates, and public recognition ceremonies.
